BTLA Broker / Property, machinery and investment projects
Business interruption insurance — BI.
The business stops. The bills keep coming.
Repairing a machine will not pay wages or rent. We will check cover for the financial consequences of downtime, BI triggering events and the time your business needs to resume operations.
04 / Let's talk
Let’s get into the details.
Start with what could bring your business to a halt. Together, we will establish what financial information is needed.

Before you contact us
How much does working with BTLA cost?
We agree the scope of analysis and payment arrangements before starting work together. Sending an enquiry initiates contact; it does not form a contract for paid services. Legal assistance in a dispute is agreed separately.
Where does the broker's remuneration come from?
Before we begin working together, we will explain the remuneration arrangements for your case and whether the client is expected to pay a fee. It is worth distinguishing the cost of the policy itself from payment arrangements for brokerage and legal services.
I have a policy from an agent. Can I bring it to BTLA?
Yes. Your existing policy is a useful starting point for a review. We will check its scope and your company’s current situation. Talking to BTLA does not, in itself, amend or terminate the contract in force.
Do you need to wait until the current policy expires?
The conversation and analysis can start earlier, particularly after buying machinery, expanding or changing your operations. The timing and possibility of changes to cover depend on the particular contract.
BEAVER AND SUPERPARROT / BUSINESS IN PRACTICE
Beaver has a policy. What about business interruption?
Production stops. Bills keep coming. Would your business survive four months of such an interruption?
Check not only cover for your premises and machinery, but also the financial consequences of interruption. Calculate your own scenario, then let’s discuss BI: cover depends on the cause of downtime and the specific contract terms.

What will we establish before comparing quotes?
Availability, premium, limits, excesses and exclusions depend on risk assessment and the specific contract terms. Sending an enquiry does not activate cover.
What do we check in these areas?
Triggering event
We review the property damage to which the interruption must be linked. BI is not a general guarantee of turnover or protection against every fall in demand.
Outcome and costs
Financial data must be related to the contract definitions. We establish the basis for calculating the sum insured and how fixed costs and growth plans are included.
Indemnity period
We consider rebuilding, machinery deliveries, permits and regaining customers. The chosen period should match the scenario for restoring operations.
02 / Preparing for the discussion
You do not need to have all the documents straight away.
Provide basic information in the questionnaire. If you are unsure about something, describe it briefly or choose a conversation. Once we understand your needs, we will establish what data is required for further analysis.
What should you prepare?
Current property policy, aggregate profit and cost figures, key dependencies and a business reinstatement plan.
We will agree documents and details individually. The form starts contact; do not use it to send sensitive data or third-party documents.
03 / An important distinction
Before you choose cover.
Will BI respond to every interruption?+
No. The cause of the interruption, its connection to insured property and the extensions specified in the policy all matter. Machinery breakdown, a cyber incident and damage at a supplier's premises may require different arrangements.
What determines the price?+
It depends on the subject matter and scale of the risk, the cover, limits, claims history and the terms offered by the insurer. First, we need information about your situation. We do not provide a misleading quote based on the product name alone.
BTLA / IN PRACTICE
From your business situation to a decision.
SPECIFICS / BEFORE A DECISION
Before you request a quote.
What affects the cost?
- Business activities and operational dependencies
- Financial information and indemnity period
- Link to property cover
These are starting points for a conversation. A meaningful price comparison requires a defined scope and terms of cover.
What will help our first conversation?
- Key financial information
- Estimated time to reinstate operations
- Property policy and critical dependencies
Don't have everything? Start with a brief description. We will establish what can be added later.
Does every fall in turnover lead to a benefit?
No. Check the triggering events, the link to the property policy and how losses are determined under the contract terms.
What happens after you report a claim?
We will contact you about your needs, clarify the information and agree the scope of further analysis. An enquiry alone does not put cover in place.
