BTLA Broker / Liability and professions

Professional indemnity.
Align cover with your services and contracts.

An error in advice, design or a specialist service may lead to a client claim. We start with a detailed description of professional activities and check how well the proposed policy reflects them.

For professionals and businesses providing services that require specialist knowledge.

01 / Needs analysis

What will we establish before comparing quotes?

Availability, premium, limits, excesses and exclusions depend on risk assessment and the specific contract terms. Sending an enquiry does not activate cover.

What do we check in these areas?

Scope of activities

A professional title is not enough. We ask about the services, qualifications, subcontractors and contracts under which you work for clients.

Compulsory and additional cover

We distinguish any compulsory insurance from voluntary cover. The review includes the sum insured, scope and situations that may fall outside the basic policy.

Timing and notification of claims

We check the rules for work carried out earlier, the retroactive date and the time of notification. This matters when changing insurers or closing a business.

02 / Preparing for the discussion

You do not need to have all the documents straight away.

Provide basic information in the questionnaire. If you are unsure about something, describe it briefly or choose a conversation. Once we understand your needs, we will establish what data is required for further analysis.

What should you prepare?

Service description, sample contract, revenue by activity, current policy and details of known claims.

We will agree documents and details individually. The form starts contact; do not use it to send sensitive data or third-party documents.

03 / An important distinction

Before you choose cover.

Is ordinary business liability cover enough?

Not always. A professional negligence claim and a loss arising from day-to-day office operations may be subject to different terms. Both situations must be checked in the policy documents.

What determines the price?

It depends on the subject matter and scale of the risk, the cover, limits, claims history and the terms offered by the insurer. First, we need information about your situation. We do not provide a misleading quote based on the product name alone.

BTLA / IN PRACTICE

From your business situation to a decision.

SPECIFICS / BEFORE A DECISION

Before you request a quote.

What affects the cost?

  • Type of services and scale of operations
  • Contractual requirements and territory
  • Limits and claims history

These are starting points for a conversation. A meaningful price comparison requires a defined scope and terms of cover.

What will help our first conversation?

  • Description of the specific services
  • Clients' contractual requirements
  • Current policy and continuity dates

Don't have everything? Start with a brief description. We will establish what can be added later.

Does every profession need identical liability cover?

Your needs depend on the work, contracts and any professional requirements. We will start with what you do, so the choice is not based solely on the policy name.

What happens after you report a claim?

We will contact you about your needs, clarify the information and agree the scope of further analysis. An enquiry alone does not put cover in place.
