Interruption following machinery breakdown — MLoP.
Analyse an interruption following machinery breakdown.
Repairing a machine does not itself recover the costs of weeks without production. We help assess the need to protect financial results after equipment breakdown and link that cover to machinery insurance.
For businesses where the breakdown of a particular machine could bring operations to a halt.
01 / Needs analysis
What will we establish before comparing quotes?
Availability, premium, limits, excesses and exclusions depend on risk assessment and the specific contract terms. Sending an enquiry does not activate cover.
What do we check in these areas?
Bottlenecks
We identify equipment whose absence stops subsequent stages. Replacement production capacity and the option of outsourcing work matter.
Link to a breakdown
We check what damage to a machine could trigger interruption cover. MLoP terms must be read alongside the cover for the equipment itself.
Time and financial performance
We discuss the indemnity period, time excess and data for calculating the sum insured. Parts delivery times can matter more than the repair duration itself.
02 / Preparing for the discussion
You do not need to have all the documents straight away.
Provide basic information in the questionnaire. If you are unsure about something, describe it briefly or choose a conversation. Once we understand your needs, we will establish what data is required for further analysis.
What should you prepare?
List of critical machinery, MB policy, repair and delivery times, and financial information about the dependent process.
We will agree documents and details individually. The form starts contact; do not use it to send sensitive data or third-party documents.
03 / An important distinction
Before you choose cover.
How does MLoP differ from BI?+
In this analysis, MLoP refers to an interruption following an insured machinery breakdown. A typical BI programme is linked to specified property losses. The precise boundaries are set out in the terms of both contracts.
What determines the price?+
It depends on the subject matter and scale of the risk, the cover, limits, claims history and the terms offered by the insurer. First, we need information about your situation. We do not provide a misleading quote based on the product name alone.
SPECIFICS / BEFORE A DECISION
Before you request a quote.
What affects the cost?
- Importance of equipment to revenue
- Repair time and availability of replacements
- Financial data, limits and cover period
These are starting points for a conversation. A meaningful price comparison requires a defined scope and terms of cover.
What will help our first conversation?
- List of critical equipment
- Repair times and spare parts lead times
- Information on machinery-dependent revenue
Don't have everything? Start with a brief description. We will establish what can be added later.
How does MLOP differ from machinery insurance?
An MLOP review considers the financial consequences of interruption linked to a breakdown. The required connection with equipment damage and how the loss is calculated depend on the contract terms.
What happens after you report a claim?
We will contact you about your needs, clarify the information and agree the scope of further analysis. An enquiry alone does not put cover in place.
