BTLA BROKER / FOR BUSINESSES

Construction and erection insurance — CAR/EAR.
Cover tailored to the project.

Construction projects bring together the interests of the project owner, contractors and subcontractors. We help establish cover for construction, erection and liability in relation to the specific contract.

For investors and contractors carrying out construction or installation works.

01 / YOUR SITUATION

The conversation starts with your business.

We will establish your needs based on your operations, contracts and planned changes. We help compare proposals on the same assumptions.

  • Project owners starting construction or modernisation work.
  • Main contractors and installation companies.
  • Businesses carrying out works within an operating facility.

02 / SCOPE OF OUR WORK

What do we establish before choosing an offer?

Availability and scope depend on assessment of the situation and the specific quotation terms. We also discuss limits, exclusions and the company’s obligations together.

What do we check in these areas?

Works and values

We establish the subject matter insured, contract value, timetable and parties to be covered. We check materials supplied by the project owner and existing property that needs to be included separately.

Neighbouring property and liability

We review exposure to third-party losses, subcontractors’ work and the relationship with business liability cover. We do not assume a project policy automatically replaces the participants’ other policies.

Stages and extensions

We discuss testing, commissioning, handover and the maintenance period. Delay in start-up insurance requires separate analysis; it does not arise automatically from a CAR/EAR policy alone.

03 / HOW WE WORK

You know what to prepare and what decisions to make.

Prepare the contract, a description of the technology, timetable, value of the works and supplies, location details and a list of participants. Highlight work at an operating facility, testing and any material requirements of the project owner.

What do we check in these areas?

We identify your needs

We organise the documents and scenarios that matter to your business.

We compare terms

We explain quotation differences, available options and remaining limitations.

We discuss the decision

We agree the next steps, dates and information that needs updating.

04 / BEFORE WE TALK

Worth knowing.

What is the difference between CAR and EAR?

CAR concerns construction risks and EAR installation risks. The project’s nature, technology and work stages help identify a suitable solution. Specific terms and clauses determine the cover.

Does ‘all risks’ mean there are no exclusions?

No. The contract defines the insured property, period, basis of liability and exclusions. Provisions on defects, design, workmanship and consequential damage matter, among others.

When should we start talking?

Before work starts and before the insurance clauses in the contract are finally agreed. This allows time to gather documents and compare the project owner's requirements with the offers' terms.

SPECIFICS / BEFORE A DECISION

Before you request a quote.

What affects the cost?

  • Value, type and schedule of works
  • Location, technology and project participants
  • Scope of cover and excesses

These are starting points for a conversation. A meaningful price comparison requires a defined scope and terms of cover.

What will help our first conversation?

  • Project description and schedule
  • Contract value and allocation of responsibilities
  • Contractual insurance requirements

Don't have everything? Start with a brief description. We will establish what can be added later.

When is the best time to discuss project cover?

Before work begins and final contractual requirements are accepted. If works are already underway, tell us their stage — the possibility and terms of cover require a separate assessment.

What happens after you report a claim?

We will contact you about your needs, clarify the information and agree the scope of further analysis. An enquiry alone does not put cover in place.
