BTLA Broker / Finance and specialist risks
Crime and employee dishonesty insurance.
Look at the risk of fraud within your business.
Internal misconduct or a fraudulent transaction may cause a direct financial loss to the business. We help review Crime insurance needs and the boundaries of its relationship with cyber and D&O cover.
For businesses assessing the impact of misuse, fraud and dishonest acts.
01 / Needs analysis
What will we establish before comparing quotes?
Availability, premium, limits, excesses and exclusions depend on risk assessment and the specific contract terms. Sending an enquiry does not activate cover.
What do we check in these areas?
Loss scenarios
We discuss employee dishonesty, forgery and fraud involving transfers of funds. Each scenario must be assessed against the definitions in the proposed cover.
Payment monitoring
We ask about the allocation of authority, payment approvals and verification of business partners' account changes. We do not collect access credentials or instructions for bypassing security.
Conditions and time of discovery
We check limits, excesses and rules for discovering and reporting a loss. Previously known irregularities require particular attention.
02 / Preparing for the discussion
You do not need to have all the documents straight away.
Provide basic information in the questionnaire. If you are unsure about something, describe it briefly or choose a conversation. Once we understand your needs, we will establish what data is required for further analysis.
What should you prepare?
Your business profile, the general scale of operations, a description of how payment controls are divided and any previous incidents — without account numbers or details of an ongoing incident.
We will agree documents and details individually. The form starts contact; do not use it to send sensitive data or third-party documents.
03 / An important distinction
Before you choose cover.
Does a cyber policy always cover payment fraud?+
No. Crime cover, social engineering extensions and cyber insurance may address different situations. Cover needs comparing, particularly where an employee personally authorised the transfer.
What determines the price?+
It depends on the subject matter and scale of the risk, the cover, limits, claims history and the terms offered by the insurer. First, we need information about your situation. We do not provide a misleading quote based on the product name alone.
SPECIFICS / BEFORE A DECISION
Before you request a quote.
What affects the cost?
- Scale of operations and flow of funds
- Control procedures and incident history
- Insured events and limits
These are starting points for a conversation. A meaningful price comparison requires a defined scope and terms of cover.
What will help our first conversation?
- Description of payment and control processes
- Structure of authority within the company
- Expected cover scenarios
Don't have everything? Start with a brief description. We will establish what can be added later.
Is payment fraud always covered?
No. The perpetrator’s methods and circumstances must be compared with the definitions, requirements and exclusions in the specific quotation.
What happens after you report a claim?
We will contact you about your needs, clarify the information and agree the scope of further analysis. An enquiry alone does not put cover in place.
