Freight forwarder’s liability — OCS.
Check liability cover against actual freight forwarding activities.
Organising carriage and actually transporting goods are different activities. We help analyse the freight forwarder's liability and align the description of activities with the contracts actually concluded.
For businesses organising transport for clients.
01 / Needs analysis
What will we establish before comparing quotes?
Availability, premium, limits, excesses and exclusions depend on risk assessment and the specific contract terms. Sending an enquiry does not activate cover.
What do we check in these areas?
Your role in the assignment
We check whether the company organises carriage, assumes a carrier's obligations or combines both roles. The name of the instruction alone does not determine all liability.
Selecting subcontractors
We discuss carrier checks, documents and procedures. The policy terms may impose requirements on subcontracting services.
Scope of operations
We ask about routes, goods, temporary storage and other activities. We compare limits and exclusions against your day-to-day assignments.
02 / Preparing for the discussion
You do not need to have all the documents straight away.
Provide basic information in the questionnaire. If you are unsure about something, describe it briefly or choose a conversation. Once we understand your needs, we will establish what data is required for further analysis.
What should you prepare?
A sample instruction, description of activities, transport destinations, types of goods, subcontractor verification procedures and current policies.
We will agree documents and details individually. The form starts contact; do not use it to send sensitive data or third-party documents.
03 / An important distinction
Before you choose cover.
Does freight forwarder's liability replace the client's cargo cover?+
No. Freight forwarder’s liability insurance concerns liability for specified activities, while cargo insurance covers the goods. Both perspectives need to be considered when reviewing a programme.
What determines the price?+
It depends on the subject matter and scale of the risk, the cover, limits, claims history and the terms offered by the insurer. First, we need information about your situation. We do not provide a misleading quote based on the product name alone.
SPECIFICS / BEFORE A DECISION
Before you request a quote.
What affects the cost?
- Services and turnover
- Destinations, goods and subcontractors
- Limits and contractual obligations
These are starting points for a conversation. A meaningful price comparison requires a defined scope and terms of cover.
What will help our first conversation?
- Description of how transport is organised
- Sample contracts
- Current policies and claims history
Don't have everything? Start with a brief description. We will establish what can be added later.
Is the label ‘freight forwarder’ enough to choose liability insurance?
No. The activities performed and the obligations accepted are what matter. We will discuss whether, in particular operations, the business also acts in another capacity that requires a separate analysis.
What happens after you report a claim?
We will contact you about your needs, clarify the information and agree the scope of further analysis. An enquiry alone does not put cover in place.
