BTLA Broker / Insurance bonds

Advance payment guarantee.
Secure repayment of a contractual advance.

The customer may make an advance payment conditional on receiving security for its repayment. We help organise the enquiry requirements and documentation needed to assess the bond.

For contractors receiving an advance to perform a contract.

01 / Needs analysis

What will we establish before comparing quotes?

Availability, premium, limits, excesses and exclusions depend on risk assessment and the specific contract terms. Sending an enquiry does not activate cover.

What do we check in these areas?

Amount and payment

We check the advance amount, currency, payment date and how it will be used in the contract. It is important to link the guarantee to the actual flow of funds.

Accounting for the advance payment

We discuss the schedule for reducing the security and documents confirming settlement. The rules for reducing the amount should be unambiguous.

Assessment of the obligation

The guarantor assesses the contract, the business's financial position and its ability to fulfil its obligations. It may make its decision conditional on additional security.

02 / Preparing for the discussion

You do not need to have all the documents straight away.

Provide basic information in the questionnaire. If you are unsure about something, describe it briefly or choose a conversation. Once we understand your needs, we will establish what data is required for further analysis.

What should you prepare?

Draft contract, advance amount, payment date, settlement rules and expected security wording.

We will agree documents and details individually. The form starts contact; do not use it to send sensitive data or third-party documents.

03 / An important distinction

Before you choose cover.

Can a guarantee be issued after an advance has been received?

The possibility and terms depend on the particular circumstances and the guarantor's assessment. It is best to start the analysis before the payment date, allowing time to agree the document's wording and dates.

What determines the price?

It depends on the subject matter and scale of the risk, the cover, limits, claims history and the terms offered by the insurer. First, we need information about your situation. We do not provide a misleading quote based on the product name alone.

SPECIFICS / BEFORE A DECISION

Before you request a quote.

What affects the cost?

  • Advance amount and how it is settled
  • Schedule and guarantee period
  • Contract terms and financial assessment

These are starting points for a conversation. A meaningful price comparison requires a defined scope and terms of cover.

What will help our first conversation?

  • Contract and advance payment settlement rules
  • Delivery schedule
  • Guarantee requirements

Don't have everything? Start with a brief description. We will establish what can be added later.

Can the security amount decrease?

The possibility and method of reduction require wording aligned with the contract and the parties’ acceptance. We will review how the advance is settled.

What happens after you report a claim?

We will contact you about your needs, clarify the information and agree the scope of further analysis. An enquiry alone does not put cover in place.
