BTLA Broker / Insurance bonds
Customs guarantees.
Discuss the requirements of the relevant procedure.
Import operations and customs procedures may require security for amounts due. We help establish enquiry parameters for a guarantee meeting the relevant authority's requirements.
For businesses needing security for obligations under customs procedures.
01 / Needs analysis
What will we establish before comparing quotes?
Availability, premium, limits, excesses and exclusions depend on risk assessment and the specific contract terms. Sending an enquiry does not activate cover.
What do we check in these areas?
Procedure and amounts due
We ask about the operation, the company’s role and the obligations to be secured. Not every procedure requires the same document.
Amount and period
We establish the security amount, the scale of operations and the intended period. These parameters must be linked to the authority's requirements and the way the business operates.
Documents for assessment
The insurer assesses the applicant and the obligation. The expected form of security and financial requirements are agreed individually.
02 / Preparing for the discussion
You do not need to have all the documents straight away.
Provide basic information in the questionnaire. If you are unsure about something, describe it briefly or choose a conversation. Once we understand your needs, we will establish what data is required for further analysis.
What should you prepare?
Procedure description, authority’s requirements, security amount, period and aggregate scale of operations.
We will agree documents and details individually. The form starts contact; do not use it to send sensitive data or third-party documents.
03 / An important distinction
Before you choose cover.
Does a bond replace the obligation to pay customs duties or taxes?+
No. It secures amounts owed to the beneficiary. The company must still fulfil its obligations and settle with the guarantor under the agreed contract.
What determines the price?+
It depends on the subject matter and scale of the risk, the cover, limits, claims history and the terms offered by the insurer. First, we need information about your situation. We do not provide a misleading quote based on the product name alone.
SPECIFICS / BEFORE A DECISION
Before you request a quote.
What affects the cost?
- Type of procedure and required amount
- Guarantee period
- Business assessment and document wording
These are starting points for a conversation. A meaningful price comparison requires a defined scope and terms of cover.
What will help our first conversation?
- Description of procedures and turnover
- Customs authority requirements
- Amount and expected period
Don't have everything? Start with a brief description. We will establish what can be added later.
How do I start discussing a customs guarantee?
By identifying the procedure and the requirements of the relevant authority. We can then assess the possibility of obtaining suitable security.
What happens after you report a claim?
We will contact you about your needs, clarify the information and agree the scope of further analysis. An enquiry alone does not put cover in place.
